Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel Demanding Desegregation (1962)
Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel Demanding Desegregation (1962)
An excellent capture of Archbishop Joseph P Rummel standing firm in his decision to order the desegregation of New Orleans' catholic schools. Before him kneels Una Gaillot, a leader of a local segregationist movement, pleading him to reconsider. Rummel would later excommunicate her, and several New Orleans politicians, for their efforts to keep the schools segregated.
Print is on 7.25x8.5" paper and in good condition outside of editorial markings.
